Psalm 5- His Righteousness

”But I enter your house by the abundance of your faithful love; I bow down toward your holy temple in reverential awe of you. Lord, lead me in your righteousness because of my adversaries; make your way straight before me.“

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Tead Context

David writes this psalm with great expectation that God is caring for him, even though he is in a tight spot.  He gives God all the credit for helping him, not for what David has done, but because of who God is.  In these verses he is even recognizing that anything good he does if a direct result of God working in his life.

This is a powerful truth that we often overlook: any good that we do is God flowing through us.  Too many times I want to take credit for His work in me.  I want to point to those things as evidence that I am doing well, and completely miss that the good is produced only because I am walking closely with the Lord.

Lord help me to give you all the credit you are due for the incredible work you continue to do in and through me.  Anything I produce on my own is stained with pride and sinful motivations…allow me to recognize the difference and surrender all of myself to you!
