Psalm 3- Unshakable Faith

”But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. I cry aloud to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. Selah“

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭CSB‬‬

David writes this Pslam while his son is chasing him to kill him and take over the Kingdom.  People are mocking David for believing that God will save him…But David has an unshakable faith that God can save him, that God actually listens to him and responds to prayer.

David’s unshakable faith comes from history of watching God respond time and time again.  We all have seen God respond and answer prayer, but most of the time we don’t give God credit for the work He does…we pray about a hard situation and then it changes and we completely forget that we even prayed about it, or we chalk it up to coincidence.  We pray for strength in a tough day and get an encouraging text from a someone, our mood is lifted and we are thankful for that friend.  But rarely do we thank God for His answer to prayer…and often we complain to God that He is allowing us to suffer, never seeing his fingerprints around us.

Lord, help me to recognize Your hands at work all around me so that I can continue to have the same unshakable faith in You that David had.  I want to ask “where has God answered prayer today?” and really reflect on Your faithfulness.  Give me eyes to see and a memory that gives You alone credit for answers prayer!
