John 13:36-38, He Knows Me

“Lord,” Peter asked, “why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”

Jesus replied, “Will you lay down your life for me? Truly I tell you, a rooster will not crow until you have denied me three times.”

‭‭John‬ ‭13‬:‭37‬-‭38‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Read Context

Jesus knows us better than we know ourselves.  This was not only true of Peter and the disciples, it is true of each one of us.

“The heart is more deceitful than anything else, and incurable — who can understand it? I, the Lord, examine the mind, I test the heart…”  —‭‭Jeremiah ‬ ‭17‬:‭9‬-‭10‬a ‭CSB‬‬

Even in the Old Testament God was telling us this same thing.  But I am so thankful that God knows me…

Lord help me to run to you when I am trying to understand my heart or motives.  Give me clarity and help me to trust you over my own feelings!
