Exodus 13-15, Fighting for Us

“But Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and see the Lord’s salvation that he will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you must be quiet.”

That day the Lord saved Israel from the power of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. When Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and believed in him and in his servant Moses.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭14‬:‭13‬-‭14‬, ‭30‬-‭31‬ ‭CSB‬‬

What a powerful forebear to the Gospel.  That God would fight for us against the penalty and power of our own sin.  It would be God who concurs it while we are on the sideline and trust Him.

Lord, thank You for saving me.  Thank You for fighting for me.  Thank You for knowing that I am too weak, frail and foolish to follow You without the power of Your Spirit.

Exodus 10-12, Obedience Rewarded

“The Israelites acted on Moses’s word and asked the Egyptians for silver and gold items and for clothing.  And the Lord gave the people such favor with the Egyptians that they gave them what they requested. In this way they plundered the Egyptians.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭12‬:‭35‬-‭36‬ ‭CSB‬‬

God told Moses, Moses told Pharaoh and the people, and only the people listened.  Through their obedience, God did more than just rescue them from slavery, He looted the Egyptians when they willingly gave them gold and silver before they left.  That defies explanation if it is not supernatural!!!

Lord, help me to obey Your commands.  I want to always be following You into whatever You are calling me.  No matter how crazy it sounds or how little sense it makes to me…help me to trust Your plans!

Exodus 7-9, Answered Prayer

“When Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, the frogs  came up and covered the land of Egypt. But the magicians did the same thing by their occult practices and brought frogs up onto the land of Egypt.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭8‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭CSB‬‬

It’s shocking how the magicians were able to perform some of the same signs, or something similar to the plagues God sent.  The result was that the people and Pharaoh didn’t believe God.  I think we do the same things today: God does something miraculous and we come up with a plausible reason for it.  We may blame coincidence or good luck, or imagine some incredible scenarios that makes it less supernatural.  I think most often we miss Gods miraculous answers, because we have such a bad memory, we forget what we had prayed for because we are on to the next thing.

Lord, help me to see every act You do and give You alone praise for it!
