42 As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people kept begging that these things might be spoken to them the next Sabbath.
43 Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the grace of God.
44 The next Sabbath nearly the whole city assembled to hear the word of the Lord.
45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming.

50 But the Jews incited the devout women of prominence and the leading men of the city, and instigated a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district.

God has called us to share the incredible news that Christ died to pay the penalty of OUR sins. He did not stay dead, but concured the Grave and was raised to life after three days. That was his purpose in coming; to make us forever free from sin. We are no longer slaves to sin, but we have the choice to glorify God by our actions. We can finally choose to please God, the Mighty Creator of the Universe. Before Christ atoned for our sins, we could do nothing but sin. Even our "good" actions were as evil in God's eyes.
Thank God for sacrificing His Perfect Son for us all!
That is the Gospel. Jesus told us to share it in "the Great Commission". But as we see here in the early Church, there are different results. Some (those appointed to eternal life) believe and rejoice, others become jealous or angry and will try to run you out of town. But notice the results were not the responsibility of the sharers, that is in God's hands.
So, what are we afraid of? What prevents us from sharing the Gospel?
